How to Do Break Blows in Dead Or Alive 6

Dead or Alive 6 sees the return of the acclaimed fighting series with refreshed visuals and an initial roster of 26 characters. While its recognizable triangle system makes its way back, the newest entry also comes with some new combat mechanics. Here’s all you need to know about how to do Break Blows in Dead or Alive 6.

Dead or Alive 6 spices fights up with the introduction of the Break System. This system relies on the Special Move Gauge –also called Break Gauge–, which fills up as you land hits on opponents, block attacks or take damage.

Break Blows & Dead or Alive 6

Break Blows are part of the Break System and become available once your Special Move Gauge is full. Pressing the D-Pad in the direction in which your fighter is facing while also pressing R1 (RB) will prompt your character to perform their Special Move.

When doing so, the camera changes angle, providing a cinematic, slow motion view of the move being performed. Break Blows are exceptional attacks, not only due to the fact that they parry incoming blows in their first stage, but also because they deal massive damage and knock opponents down.

Keep in mind, though, that this move uses up the entirety of your Break Gauge, so be sure to plan around that.

Cancelling the Break Blow

Dead or Alive 6 allows you to cancel the move before it’s finished, effectively turning it into a finishing blow. Doing this leaves your opponent fatally stunned and vulnerable to combo attacks.

In order to cancel the Break Blow, press the D-Pad in the direction in which you’re facing alongside R1 (RB), followed by Square (X) as you land the first hit. You’ll miss out on both the animation and will deal less damage, but you also won’t deplete your entire Break Gauge.

That’s all you need to know about how to do Special Moves (Break Blows) in Dead or Alive 6. For more tips, tricks and guides drop by our wiki guide or simply search Twinfinite.
