How to Counter a Rival Posse’s Mission in Red Dead Online
Red Dead Online is here, and while it has its fair share of single-player content, there is of course co-op and PvP elements as well. One of the ways you can mess with other players is by countering a rival posse’s mission. It’ll also nab you the ‘All’s Fair’ trophy and achievement in Red Dead Redemption 2. Here’s how to counter a rival posse’s mission in Red Dead Online.
Your posse is essentially your clan, or your gang. These are the members that are part of your crew, and you can work together with them on missions and activities, or just kick it with them and explore.
There are, of course, rival posses and gangs. A rival posse isn’t something you need to set up in Red Dead Online. Whenever another posse in your world begins a Free Roam mission, they’ll become a ‘rival posse’ that you can go and counter.
When a rival posse starts a mission, you’ll receive a notification in the top left corner informing you that this is happening. You’ll see a target on your map indicated by a red target icon on a black circle.
You’ll now need to head to that location. What happens after this then becomes a little different depending on the free roam mission that the rival posse started in Red Dead Online. However, upon arriving at the target icon on your map, you’ll first want to take care of the rival players. Gun these down, and aim for headshots to save yourself ammo and deal maximum damage.
Once the rival posse is taken care of, you’ll have a brief window before they respawn to take care of the mission objective. This might be as simple as destroying the supplies on the back of a wagon, or you may need to steal the money bags that they were transporting and deliver them to a new location.
Either way, once you’ve attacked the rival team, Red Dead Online will provide you with instructions at the bottom of the screen informing you what you need to do. Use this with the map icon to figure out where your objective is and take care of it. Successfully complete the mission, and you’ll have countered a rival posse’s free roam mission in Red Dead Online and nabbed yourself the ‘All’s Fair’ trophy and achievement in Red Dead Redemption 2.
