How to Dual Wield in Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 has plenty of weapons for players to cause mayhem across the wild west. But sometimes it’s more about the look than what actually gives you the most firepower, and what looks more badass than dual wielding revolvers? Here’s how to dual wield in Red Dead Redemption 2.

To do so, you’ll need to commit to rescuing Micah from Strawberry Prison, which is part of a fairly early story mission called Blessed are the Meek.

It’s a fun quest that has you either use a steam machine to break open the windows or blow down the prison wall with dynamite and bust him in dramatic fashion. You’ll then go on a bit of a rampage eliminating various targets around the area at Micah’s behest.

As a reward for your efforts, Micah will give you a second holster, called the “Off-Hand Holster” – and from that moment you’ll be able to use two handguns at the same time.

To actually dual wield your weapons, press and hold L1 / LB to open up the weapon wheel, and choose the two arrows pointing upwards together at the very top to dual wield two pistols/ revolvers. You can even combine the two if that’s your thing.

Note that you’ll only be able to dual wield pistols or revolvers. Sadly, there’s no Wolfenstein-like dual shotgun or machine-gun wielding in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Still, for up close and personal combat, dual wielding pistols or revolvers does pack a punch. Just don’t expect it to help out any time you’re looking at taking out enemies from long range with accuracy.

That’s all the information you’ll need in order to dual wield revolvers and pistols in Red Dead Redemption 2. For more information and useful guides on the game, check out our wiki page.
