Can You Use a Pro Controller in Pokemon Let’s Go? What You Need to Know
Making the franchise’s debut on the Nintendo Switch, how you play Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee is quite different to how you have played the past games in the franchise. Here’s everything you need to know about whether you can use a Pro Controller in Pokemon Let’s Go.
Let’s get the bad news out of the way straight away. Unfortunately, there is no way that you can use a Pro Controller in the new games. However, that doesn’t mean your means of control are limited at all.
Since the two games take a lot of Pokemon Go’s elements and incorporate them to make them more appealing to fans of the mobile game, it doesn’t control like a standard game.
Instead, you use motion controls for catching creatures in Pokemon Let’s Go. If you’ve played the hit mobile game, you’ll be familiar with the colored circles and throwing mechanics. They’re essentially the same in the new games.
That means you’ll need to use either a Joy-Con or the new Poke Ball Plus device. Using a Joy-Con is simple. You only need one, with the thumbstick being used to move your character around the reimagined version of Kanto. Then, you use the other face buttons to interact with characters and the motion controls to catch Pokemon.
Then, if you’ve bought the version of the game that comes with the Poke Ball Plus device, you will find the thumbstick on the front of the ball, where the button that locks it would usually be. Then, you throw it towards the screen, not literally, like you do with Joy-Cons. There’s simply no need for all the buttons that you would find on the Pro Controller.
However, if Nintendo ever decides to add Pro Controller support into the game at a later date, we’ll be sure to let you know by updating you here.
