Super Mario Party

Everyone’s favorite Nintendo party series released its latest entry last month, offering new game modes, characters, allies, and for the first time in the series, an online mini-game multiplayer mode.

Super Mario Party has customary four-player local co-op, with new modes including a River Survival Mode, Toad’s Rec Room where you line up two Nintendo  Switch systems to mimic a tabletop puzzle game, and Mariothon where you can play an online with 8 new mini-games using the Joy Cons games types including free-for-all, 2 vs 2, and even 1 vs 3.

The series-favorite board game mode is back, and Super Mario Party offers the most characters options in the series with 16 available upon starting the game and four more available to unlock as you progress.

Super Mario Party released for Nintendo Switch on Oct. 5.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

The fourth and highly anticipated entry in the Black Ops series released in October, offering tons of new multiplayer gameplay including a Battle Royale mode for the first time in a Call of Duty title.

With two-player local and four-player online co-op for all modes, Black Ops 4 marks the 10th anniversary of the Call of Duty: Zombies, and in celebration there is more Zombies day one content then ever before.

The new Blood of the Dead storyline takes place in Alcatraz prison as the game’s heroes try and survive an onslaught of zombies appearing from portals while seeking out the secrets lying within the prison’s laboratory.

Another new storyline Voyage of Despair is set on the sinking Titanic ship in 1912. While looking for a mysterious artifact you and your friends will have to survive the zombies that are likely more scary the the frigid waters below.

The final new Zombies campaign is IX, set in Ancient Rome with a unique twist where players will not be able to use any guns due to the time period setting. Bows and swords will be the headliners of your arsenal, so expect to get a little closer to the zombie hordes then you are used to. All the Zombies modes can be played online or via local co-op.

Some basic multiplayer modes returning include Domination, Hardpoint, Control, and more, with returning and new maps including Frequency, Payload, and Contraband.

The largest new inclusion, however, is the Blackout Battle Royale mode. Using classic weapons from the series in a new map with familiar locations, 100 players drop when in teams of four and 88 when running solo or in a team of two to fight until one player remains.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on Oct. 12.

Lego Harry Potter Collection

Any Lego game series is sure to be a good time with a friend, and one of the best got its own collection bundle last month. The Lego Harry Potter Collection includes Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 remastered together all in one game.

All seven years at Hogwarts offer two players local co-op gameplay where you can choose to control a variety of different witches and wizards while working through puzzle levels mainly solved by destroying the Lego world around you and rebuilding it into new more useful items.

The Lego Harry Potter Collection released for PS4 on Oct. 18, and arrived to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch a few days later on Oct. 30.

Forza Horizon 4

While Forza Horizon 4 has no local co-op options, there is six-player online multiplayer so you can can take on co-op challenges in the Forzathon Live event or compete in classic co-op races with up to five other players online.

The game features dynamic seasons, meaning the co-op events will change depending on the time of year. The open world is shared between players and based upon a fictionalized version of the UK. Over 450 vehicles are available and fully customizable, and a route creator is even accessible that allows player to make their own races to try alone or share with friends.

Forza Horizon 4 released for Xbox One and PC on Oct. 2, with cross-platform play available between the two platforms.

Just Dance 2019

For those who want a little cardio with their co-op gameplay, Just Dance 2019 released in October with new 40 new songs to dance to.

Groups of two or three players can dance simultaneously, with up to six being possible on the PS4 and Xbox One versions through the use of the Just Dance App on iOS and Android. Current gen console versions can also access the popular World Dance Floor mode, offering online multiplayer challenges to players worldwide.

Just Dance 2019 released for numerous platforms including Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch on Oct 23.
