How to Issue Orders as a Squad Leader in Battlefield V

As a squad leader in Battlefield V, you have the added responsibility of issuing orders to your squad members. You don’t have to but you’re doing everyone that is tagging along with you a huge disservice.

In previous games, and Battlefield V, issuing orders is an effective way to not only get your squad organized around completing a specific objective, such as attacking or defending a point, but it’s also free experience points if you’re all playing the objective.

On top of that, new to Battlefield V are special weapons and vehicles that can be called in by the squad leader if the squad as accumulated enough points by playing the objectives and completing orders throughout the match.

So now, more than ever, there’s a lot of incentive to issue orders as a squad leader. Issuing orders as a squad leader is extremely easy luckily once you know what to press.

All you need to do is hold R1/RB, the same button you would use to tag enemies, but instead hold it. This will bring up a radial menu that you can use the left analog stick to navigate. This normally contains quick chat options for you to use.

If you’re the squad leader though, you’ll have an extra section there that you can utilize to give commands such as attacking or defending an objective.

Make sure that you’re not just picking something at random. Actually think about where your team is, what can be feasibly completed in a short amount of time, and what is actually possible. The goal is to be successful in a short amount of time.

Benefits of Being an Effective Squad Leader

At the bare minimum, you can earn extra experience points for your squad by issuing commands and completing them. Also, if you like winning the game, working together on completing objectives is obviously beneficial not only to your squad, but the bigger picture of coming out the victor.

Finally, like we alluded to above, new to Battlefield V are special perks such as the V1 Rocket. When you receive the notifcation that you obtained the V1 Rocket, press L1+ R1/ LB+RB to paint a target for a massive area of effect damage.
