How to Engrave Items in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey comes with a slew of new features to separate it from its predecessors. One of those drastically changes the way players will use their weapons and equipment. By engraving items, players are able to take items that would otherwise be statically weak into the higher level sections of the game. It’s a new concept for the series so it might be confusing, but fear not. We’ve got you covered. Here’s how to engrave items in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Where You Can Engrave Items in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

While you may be a bad-ass assassin, that doesn’t mean you can just go about engraving items anywhere you want. You can only do this for your items if you go to the right place, first, though.

The first thing you’re going to need to do to engrave your armor or weapons is to find a blacksmith. If you’re just starting out, there is one blacksmith in the first town you come across.

However, if you’re deep into the game, head to a nearby town or city. Chances are, you’ll be able to see the iron ingot and hammer icon on your map. This is where you’ll find a blacksmith in that town or city, so make your way here. They’re represented by an icon that’s a hammer slamming an anvil.

Once you’ve found this person, go to their menus by interacting with them. To do this, press Triangle on PS4 or Y on Xbox One.

From here, scroll down to the Engrave Items option and select it. From there, you’ll see a list of different engravings available for not only your weapons, but your pieces of armor as well.

Select the engraving you want, pay the fee and you’re all set. This allows you to add a perk to that piece of equipment. For instance, if you have an engraving that lets you deal more Warrior damage, you can put it on a weapon to strengthen it. Engraving doesn’t actually increase that item level, though. You’ll need to pay extra to upgrade item level in Odyssey.

The engraving system is a great addition to the series and hopefully one that stays. Nobody likes to say goodbye to their favorite piece of equipment.

That’s all you need to know about how to engrave items in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
