Can You Change Difficulty in Dragon Quest XI? What You Need to Know
Unlike other recent RPGs, Dragon Quest XI isn’t a particularly tough game. That’s not to say that you won’t struggle with some of the combat sections of the game, but it’s unlikely that you’ll be frustrated as you play. Whether you’re after an easier or tougher time, you may be wondering if you can change difficulty in Dragon Quest XI. Well, here’s everything you need to know.
There are no difficulty levels in Dragon Quest XI, per se, so you cannot change difficulty in the traditional sense, but you can change particular things that make the game harder, if you’d like it to be. When you first start the game, you can use something called Draconian Quest to put restrictions or challenges on your playthrough that make things more difficult. They can be altered again later in the game, whenever you go to one of the churches in the game, but once you remove them, you cannot turn them back on again on the same save file, so keep that in mind before you change anything rashly. If you start finding a Draconian setting is making the game tough for you, you can remove it, but that change will be final.
That’s all you need to know about how to change difficulty in Dragon Quest XI. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to check out our wiki guide.
