Here’s How to Catch Fish in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate

Catching fish in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is important for a number of reasons. They can be used as food. They can be used as ingredients in a bomb and so much more. It’s also one of the many ways players can lose hours and hours to the game without even realizing it (fishing is quite fun). For all of these reasons, you might be looking to become the best wrangler in the world. Maybe you don’t now how, though. Fear not, we’ve got you covered. Here’s how to fish in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on the Nintendo Switch.

The first thing you’re going to need to properly catch a fish is bait — specifically bugs. These bugs can be caught at various nodes around the map. Once you’ve obtained a bug for bait, head to a body of water. While a bigger body will have more possibilities, don’t pass up the smaller ones. Sometimes, the rarest of fish can be found in the smallest of bodies. Once you’ve decided where you want to fish, press either A or Y to use the bait.

If you don’t have bait, or don’t want to use bait, you can use lures. Bait are finite in use — once you’re out, you’re out — but lures on the other hand, are infinite. There is a downside to using them, though. Lures take longer to attract a fish.

Once your lure or bait is out, exercise patience and wait for a fish to bite. Once that happens, wiggle the left stick and mash the B button as fast as you can. If done properly, you’ll see your character reel in the catch in no time. If you don’t reel it in properly, or fast enough, the fish will escape so always be prepared for the fish to bite.
