How to Unlock Advanced Classes and Jobs in Octopath Traveler

Recommended Videos

Outside of the eight basic classes that you can unlock as secondary jobs in chapter 2, Octopath Traveler offers four other advanced classes that you can experiment with as well. These are, without a doubt, the strongest jobs and classes in the entire game, and getting them for your party won’t be easy.

Similar to the base classes, the advanced ones are unlocked by finding a shrine and interacting with the artifact inside. The shrines will show up as four white pillars standing in a row on your radar, and they’ll be marked on your map permanently once you enter them. The advanced shrines are basically dungeons, and once you reach the end and interact with the artifact, you’ll have to fight the deity related to the job and win. These fights are extremely tough, and we recommend reaching at least level 50 in Octopath Traveler before you attempt them. You can check the full list of advanced shrine locations here.

All Octopath Traveler Advanced Classes

  • Runelord
  • Starseer
  • Sorcerer
  • Warmaster

The Runelord is basically a mystic knight who focuses on physical sword attacks, and comes with the ability to enhance their attacks with elemental magic. The Starseer focuses more on buffing and supporting the party, with health regen and BP skills to increase your damage output. The Sorcerer is basically a souped-up Scholar or black mage with access to every single element, including wind, light, and dark magic. Every spell is AoE-based, and they hit three times. They also cost a ton of SP, however. And lastly, the Warmaster focuses heavily on physical attacks, and this class gives you access to every single weapon type in the game, including staves.

Once you’ve unlocked the classes, they can be equipped from the Job menu like any other regular class.
