PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
You got PUBG! Congratulations. The game that kicked off the current wave of battle royale dominance, PUBG is a dynamic military shooter which is not for those with a weak disposition. Stripped back and simple, PUBG relies on its gameplay to carry the experience, going all in on the tense and rewarding experience it champions. So much of every match in PUBG is spent waiting, contemplating your next move. Matches are drawn-out chess games in which one wrong move spells certain death. The huge map can be traversed on foot or by vehicle, an act which is wrought with nail-biting tension and mad dashes for cover.
PUBG is only available on PC, Xbox One and mobile devices and costs money to enter. The graphics and gameplay systems fall more on the realistic side, and customization is subtle. The game is definitely more challenging than its competitors and has a steep learning curve involving countless hours of cowering in bathrooms and accidentally jumping out of cars to your doom.
PUBG is the more tactical experience of the two, requiring all of your attention. All of this is worth it, however, for the chance at getting that all important ‘winner winner chicken dinner’.
