NieR: Automata – Getting Rare Upgrade Materials

Recommended Videos

In NieR: Automata, you can upgrade your weapons if you have enough money and the required materials. Upgrading your weapons to levels 1 and 2 isn’t terribly difficult, but the last couple of levels will require you to cough up some harder-to-find items. We’ve made a small list of the rarer materials in the game, along with where you can farm or obtain them.

Gold Ore: Most weapons require two Gold Ores for level 4. You can farm them from the golden enemies as 9S, or just take the easy route and buy them from the vendor near the Amusement Park access point.

Meteorite and Meteorite Shard: You can get Meteorite in the game’s final chapter (for the third run), but if you want to buy them, complete the Halfwit Inventor side mission at Pascal’s Village. After loaning 180,000 G to the scientist, he’ll start selling Meteorite and Meteorite Shards.

Stretched Coil: This can be obtained from the large, tall machines found in the Desert Zone. You’ll occasionally find them as pickup items in the Desert Zone’s central area too.

Titanium Alloy: The snake machines will start dropping these once you start your second run. Titanium Alloy, along with Memory Alloy, can also be farmed from the enemies found in the caverns underneath the City Ruins leading to Emil’s home.
