How to Beat Stalkers Easily – Horizon Zero Dawn
Stalkers are a pretty unique beast in Horizon Zero Dawn and can quite quickly deplete your health bar if you’re not prepared. Taking down one of these creatures can be particularly tough thanks to its active stealth ability, making them near invisible and preventing your Focus from highlighting the weak points of Stalkers. However, there are a few ways to beat Stalkers easily when you do bump into one.
First things first, these beasts really come into their own when they’re up close and personal with you. Their melee attacks are powerful and they can plant mines which makes escaping a little more difficult. As such, you’ll want to keep your distance and use your Sharpshot Bow to deal out the majority of your damage. The first thing you’ll want to do, however, is disable that Stealth Generator making them difficult to track. These can be located on the side of Stalkers and are vulnerable to Tear damage, so be sure to use either Precision or Tearblast arrows to remove this component and disable this ability.
Now that you can keep track of Stalkers, you’ll want to eliminate their incredibly powerful Dart Gun ranged attack. A direct hit can drain huge amounts of your health bar, so you’ll want to keep an eye on Stalkers and be prepared to evade when you see them charging up this attack. You’ll see the gun on their backs glowing just before it fires, so roll to the side as soon as you spot it. Again, this is weak to tear damage, so arrows with high Tear effects will make light work of this if you can get a direct hit.
With their Stealth Generator and Dart Guns removed, these machines become far more manageable to take on. We advise planting either Shock or Blast Trip Wires around the area and use cover and your whistle ability to lure Stalkers into them. The former will give you a perfect opportunity to land a critical hit, while the other can deal a good chunk of damage. Rinse and repeat this and you’ll have taken care of these machines in no time.
