Pokemon GO: How to Name Your Pokemon

Pokemon GO will unsurprisingly have you amassing a huge amount of Pokemon, just like any other game in the series then, really. While their standard names are great, it’s always nice to be able to give them a more relatable name. Here’s how you can name your Pokemon.

Once you’ve captured your first creature, which will be one of the starter Pokemon, all you have to do is click on the Pokeball at the bottom of the screen and tap on the Pokemon option. From here, select the Pokemon you want to rename and then next to their name you should see a little pencil. Tap this and then tap in the box below where it says ‘Set Nickname’. Type in your desired nickname and then select OK.

It’s probably worth noting that it’s unlikely you’ll be able to use curse words or vulgar names for your Pokemon as you’ll be playing against other trainers at Pokemon Gyms. So remember to keep it clean, trainers!

That’s all there is to it. What names are you going to give your Pokemon? Share them in the comments below.
