How to Start Master Mode in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Recommended Videos

Master Mode is a new difficulty level introduced in Breath of the Wild’s first DLC pack. Enemies in the game will be tougher, and some mini-bosses even have regenerating health now, from my experience. However, the game also goes out of its way to reward you with better items and equipment very early on so that you’re adequately equipped to face these tougher challenges. There are also flying platforms scattered all over Hyrule, featuring enemies in new positions, along with treasure to be found.

To start Master Mode, make sure you have your DLC installed before booting up the game. From the main menu, you’ll see an option to start the mode. You can choose to either start the mode in your original save file, or create an entirely new one. The great thing about this mode is that you can start a fresh game in Master Mode without having to delete your previous save. You’ll get one manual save slot, and one auto-save slot. You can also swap between your Master and normal mode campaigns whenever you want.

That’s all you need to know about Breath of the Wild’s new Master Mode. Be sure to check out our wiki for more tips, tricks, and information The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
