Uncharted 4: How to Beat the Last Fight Against Rafe

This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Uncharted 4 isn’t much focused on gunplay, and so many of the series’ most important encounters have been cinematic combat sequences rather than shootouts. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is no different, with a sword fight acting as the climactic final battle against Rafe.

You’ll need three buttons to win this match: Square, Triangle, and Circle. The latter two will be your focus, as they’ll be your left and right dodge buttons, respectively. You’ll have to predict Rafe’s incoming attacks, and dodge according to which side he’ll be coming from. This can get pretty difficult in the heat of battle, especially in Crushing mode.

There’s a minor trick players can use here, one that takes advantage of the battle’s inherent leeway. If you press the wrong dodge button, you’ll have a small bit of time to correct yourself and press the other one. By constantly pressing Triangle and Circle through the fight, you’ll dodge almost all of Rafe’s attacks. It’s not a perfect method, but it makes Crushing mode far less of a challenge.

After dodging enough times, Rafe will weaken and you’ll have an opportunity to attack with Square. Continue dodging and attacking, and you’ll whittle him down in no time.
