How To Use Trip Mines – Sniper Elite 4

Recommended Videos

While Sniper Elite 4 is primarily about picking off unaware enemies from halfway across the map, protagonist Karl Fairburne does have a number of other tools at his disposal that he can utilize. One of these tools is the Trip Mine, and learning how to make proper use of this trap can help you tremendously in covering your blind spots when stationary.

To set up a Trip Mine, go into your weapon wheel and select it from the bottom right. Then hold the use item button (RB on Xbox One, R1 on PS4) to plant it directly where you’re standing and walk over to where you want to plant the other end of the spike and press the button again, creating the tripwire trap like the one seen below.

If the wire is yellow when placing the Trip Mine, then that means that a trap can successfully be placed. If the wire is red however, it means that there is something obstructing the path and you need to relocate the trap. Once placed, the Trip Mine can only be activated when an enemy walks into the path of the wire, resulting in a fantastic slow motion kill-cam.

Placing them outside the entrances of your sniping spots is an excellent strategy for covering your flank, as it will immediately take care of any enemy that might otherwise be able to sneak up to you.
