How to Beat Surtr in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Surtr is one of the first bosses you’ll have to face while playing Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice. This boss is found by taking the right path (the left one leads to Valravn). While you do have to eventually fight them both, Surtr is far easier to manage so you should take him out first to get a bit of practice. He doesn’t do much and happens to be quite slow, something you can take advantage of. On top of that, he doesn’t spawn any annoying minions, making staying out of damage very easy.

To beat Surtr in Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, all you need to do is keep dodging to the side while he does his attacks (they are wide, sweeping strikes). When he’s done, run in and get off a few heavy hits before dodging away and repeating.

At a certain point, Surtr will kneel and surround himself with flames. Don’t be fooled, though, that fire can’t hurt you, so rush in and take advantage by dealing some heavy strikes until the boss stands (you’ll do a ton of damage). Then just continue the fight as normal.

At random points Surtr might actually start burning, this is fire that you should avoid. When you see this, use R2 to activate your focus which will stop the burning and leave the boss vulnerable, allowing you to deliver a lot of hurt. Just keep repeating the above steps and you’ll have taken down a Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice boss with ease.
