Sweet Memories
Bungie launched Destiny: The Taken King’s Halloween Event — the Festival of the Lost, and there’s plenty of quests to go along with it.
The first quest you’ll receive from the master of Shaders and Emblems, Eva Levante. Here, she will give you the event’s introductory quest called “Happy Festival of the Lost” which will explain the event to your Guardian.
After the pleasantries, she will hand you the next quest “Sweet Memories.” You’re then tasked with going Trick-or-Treating around the Tower. She will give you an “Empty Candy Satchel” that will allow you to collect the sugary goodness. Yes, seriously.
For the “Sweet Memories” mission, you’ll have to talk to almost every NPC character at the Tower. That means you’ll speak to the Speaker, Eris Morn, Lord Shaxx, Ikora Rey, Cayde-6, Commander Zavala and the sigh-inducing Cryptarch.
After your Trick-or-Treat session is done, you’ll talk to Eva to turn in your candy satchel. Now that it’s all said and done, she will finally hand you your reward — “Gifts of the Lost.” It’s a legendary item that guarantees a Random Rare Mask, Random Festival Candy and all sorts of random goodies. The bag also has a chance to contain a Jackolyte or Flight of Shadows. These made an appearance last year. A Jackolyte makes a pumpkin appear on your head for half an hour or so, and the Flight of Shadows changes the appearance of your respawn.
Last year, players wearing a Jackolyte head could buy a secret weapon from Xur on Halloween day. Who knows what’s in store this year, but these two bonus items may be the key.
Face Off!Â
After you’re done with your festivities in the Tower, you still have plenty of work to do for Eva. As soon as you finish the Trick-or-Treating quest, you will open up three more quests from the NPC. The first of which is “Face Off!” — which as you guess it, is Crucible focused.
You’re tasked with getting 30 kills while wearing a Engram mask (doesn’t matter which) and 5 sword kills while wearing the Crota Mask (fitting isn’t it?). The kill portion shouldn’t be a problem as long as you have the mask, definitely play Rift for that portion. As for the sword kills, you will have to just be patient. Plenty of other Guardians are trying to achieve this in Multiplayer, so expect heavy resistance for the precious heavy ammo drop.
Your reward: “Gifts of the Lost” again. A Random Rare Mask, Random Festival Candy and all sorts of random goodies. Maybe a Jackolyte or Flight of Shadows.
Playing Pretend
For the second of the three quests available, you have “Playing Pretend” which asks you to earn three Gold Medals in three Public Events while wearing the Tiger mask, then loot 10 Engrams while having the Cryptarch mask and finally “trip” off of the Tower while Atheon’s mask.
These are particularly difficult and the hardest part is getting the masks. I highly recommend using Destiny Public Events, this will help you find those pesky Public Events. Looting 10 engrams isn’t too bad and as long as you have the mask, it shouldn’t take you very long. As for the “tripping” off of the Tower as Atheon, simply just jump off the railings anywhere in the Tower.
Once more, collect “Gifts of the Lost” for your mask, candy and other goodies. Possible Jackolyte or Flight of Shadows.
The Masks We Wear
Again, the hardest parts of these quests are simply getting the masks themselves. In “The Masks We Wear,” Eva wants us to kill a Court of Oryx member summoned by a Stolen Rune while wearing the Traveler mask, and also complete a Heroic Strike while having the Speaker mask equipped.
These shouldn’t be difficult, just depends on your luck. Court of Oryx should be crowded no matter where you go but just in case it’s empty, just go to the Orbit and come back to the Dreadnaught.
Reward: You guessed it. AÂ “Gifts of the Lost” bag.
I hope you guys liked our guide, let us know in the comments below on which masks you’ve unlocked! So far I have the Warden mask, and the Common and Rare Engram masks. If you’ll excuse me, I have lots of sword kills to earn.
