How to Beat Pothinus in Assassin’s Creed Origins

Recommended Videos

Pothinus is one of the highest ranking members in Egypt’s Order of the Ancients. He serves Pharoah Ptolemy alongside Septimius, at least that’s who it looks like he serves. He actually serves the Lion, the head of the order within the nation. Septimius’ boss fight honestly looks like it should be the most difficult. Mainly because he’s sitting atop a battle elephant while you’re just on foot within a small arena. But he’s actually not that difficult to deal with.

Get a weapon that has the bleeding effect and some speed (dual blades or hook sword will work) and get ready to dodge. The elephant will charge at you, trying to trample you. If it does, you’re pretty much dead. You can survive it swinging its head, though barely if you’re not a very high level, but getting stomped on pretty much always spells death. So, when you see Pothinus charging at you on the elephant, move. What you want to do is get behind it.

Pick a leg, any leg, and start attacking as much as you can. You can actually whittle the animal’s health down really quickly. All you need to worry about when behind is when the leg you’re attacking is lifted. When that happens, dodge away, then get close again and attack. When the elephant starts to turn, retreat to the other side of the arena so it charges at you again. Just keep doing that, and eventually it will all come crashing down, with Pothinus laying on the ground ready for you to finish him off.

There you have it, another Assassin’s Creed Origins boss defeated. For more on the game, be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide.
