For the first stop on our Places of Power journey across the Skellige Isles, you’ll want to travel to the Crossroads signpost. Head southwest from the Crossroads signpost and back to where the shipwreck that originally brought you to the Skellige Isles lies. Adjacent to the shipwreck is the half-sunken Place of power. Extract the skill point and get ready for a bit of a journey for the next.

Gedyneith

From the first Place of Power that we picked up we’re going to the other side of Ard Skellig to the Gedyneith signpost. Don’t worry if you haven’t discovered this signpost yet, we’ll pinpoint the location on the map screenshot for you. Now there are two ways you can reach this Place of Power: The easy way, and the hard, beast-slaying way. The hard way has you taking on a Cyclops, the easy way has you bypassing him and travelling to a further northern point.

Regardless of how you decide to tackle this Place of Power, you’re going to head east toward the building outlines on your map, pictured above. Once you find the path entering the enclosure from the north, you’ll spot some climbable ledges on your right hand side. Climb up them to avoid conflict with the Cyclops and a nice safe passage to the Place of Power. Also as a little side note, this area contains guarded treasure (guess who guards it), but it’s right by the Place of Power so loot to your heart’s content.

Druid’s Camp

Next up we’re travelling to Druid’s Camp, southwest of the previous Place of Power. This one is super easy and has no enemies nearby to cause you any issues – a welcome change from the Cyclops guarding the previous Place of Power. Once at the Druid’s Camp signpost, simply walk in an easterly direction into the forest until you walk into it. Next!

Fornhala

This is another super easy one. Fast travel to Fornhala, then start walking up the road leading south from Fornhala. Keep following the road along the snowy mountain and you’ll spot the Place of Power jutted out on a bit of rock. Make one jump from a ledge to reach it, absorb the skill point and away we go to pick up the final few from the surrounding islands!

Svorlag

For this one you needn’t worry about jumping on a boat to get there, simply fast travel to the Svorlag signpost on the island of Spikeroon, northwest of the main island. From here, head along the northwesterly path out of the village until you reach a big abandoned building.

Now you’re supposed to be able to access this building once you have acquired the key, but it seems nobody knows exactly how to get hold of the key. Fear not! To the left of the main entrance, you’ll see a low ledge right by the building. Jump at this and Geralt will be able to climb up. From here, start making your way up the hill through the snow until you reach the path. Follow this path up to the very top and you’ll reach the Place of Power. Head back to town and use the signpost to fast travel to…

Harviken

Again with this one you don’t have to worry about those using boats, just fast travel to the Harviken signpost. Once you’re there, follow the path west out of town until you reach the fork in the road. Take the left path and keep following it until it forks off again. This time, take the right path. Be warned; there are white wolves lurking in this area. A pack of them can be a pain to take down if they’re all attacking at once. However, if you stick to the path, you shouldn’t encounter too many. Follow it up the hill and you’ll see a shrine, and just to the right of this shrine is the Place of Power. Absorb it and feel the skill point rushing through your veins!

Yngvar’s Fang

Yngvar’s Fang’s Place of Power requires a bit of an adventure and the tackling of a few foes. For this one, fast travel over to the most northeasterly island via the Urialla Harbor signpost. Head along the path east out of town and follow it as far round as you can go. If you bump into a dead end, just drop down onto the path further east to you. Now it’s time to meet your first obstacle: a rock troll. Make light work of the rock troll by staying nimble on your toes and dodging his slow attacks. The sluggish attacks of the rock troll make him easy to dodge and then get plenty of hits in. To avoid huge damage, cast Quen to protect yourself with a shield. Once you’ve taken down the rock troll, it’s time to carry on.

Keep following the path and make two jumps across gaps. After making the second jump, be prepared for an aerial ambush from a mixture of Harpies and a few Sirens too. Drop them to the ground with the crossbow and slash them till they’re no more. Be careful not to let your sword strikes carry you off the edge, but if this does happen you can make your way back up. Let’s carry on. Jump onto a couple more ledges and follow the path round the edge of the mountain. You’ll then stumble upon some castle ruins.

Drop down into the ditch and walk through an archyway before making a jump to another ledge. Once in the middle of the ruins, head left up the stairs and continue to jump a series of ledges. Head through the doorway and jump yet another few ledges, not far left now. Be careful of making these last few jumps that the path leads you on as the fog gets thicker and thicker. This can become a visibility issue and lead to a long fall for poor Geralt. Follow the path until you reach the clearing and are finally at Yngvar’s Fang.

Congratulations! You’ve just grabbed the most difficult of Skellige Isles’ Places of Power.

Quest Obtainable Places of Power

The following Places of Power are best obtained during the quests mentioned within the guide for each one. Please be aware that they may also be obtainable outside of quests but this is the most tried and tested method of acquiring those trusty skill points.

Bridge to Kaer Trolde

For this Place of Power you’re best obtaining it during the quest ‘King’s Gambit’. Deep within the fortress of Kaer Trolde is another Place of Power. If you go deep into the wine cellars from the main feast hall, you’ll stumble across an escape tunnel. Wander into the escape tunnel used and you’ll find the Place of Power.

Ancient Crypt

During ‘The Sunstone’, when you are finally granted access to the Ancient Crypt on Ard Skellig, make your way through the chambers with Philipa Eilhart. Eventually you’ll come across a large hooded statue cavern. Head in and within one of the side caverns you’ll find the Place of Power.

Once you’ve trawled land and sea and have gathered up these Places of Power, swig your drink and pat yourself on the back. You’ve just collected the 9 Places of Power to be found in the Skellige Isles of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
