Mournful

Recommended Videos

Miss Jade from previous games? Well, don’t worry, you can have a little taste of the good ole’ days by using Kitana’s Mournful variation. Kitana retains many of her signature moves but also mixes in some of Jade’s as well such as the Shadow Kick and Staff Grab. In addition to the Jade themed specials, Kitana can mix in staff moves in her normal Kombos which rounds out this variation quite nicely.

Rising Fan: Down, Back, Triangle

Throat Slice: Back, Forward, X

Upraise: Down, Back, Square

Glaive Throw: Down, Forward, Square

Shadow Kick: Down, Forward, Circle

Staff Grab: Down, Back, X

Royal Storm

The Royal Storm variation gives Kitana a bit of utility besides just offensive specials. The Bounce Back special is an effective missile reflection move that can be extended to last for a few seconds and does not need to be perfectly timed like other similar specials. Fan-Nado does damage and uses wind to keep enemies up in the air and vulnerable. Square Boost adds to her offensive repertoire by allowing Kitana to quickly close the gap between her and the enemy by launching herself forward at high speeds.

Rising Fan: Down, Back, Triangle

Throat Slice: Back, Forward, X

Fan Throw: Down, Forward, Square

Square Boost: Down, Back, X

Fan-Nado: Down, Back, Square

Bounce Back: Down, Back, Circle

Assassin

Assassin variation users want to stick to the basics. Leaving fancy specials behind in favor of utility and Kombo friendly moves. Sharpen enhances the damage of any attack involving her fans. Princess Parry gives her a defensive edge over her opponents if timed properly, while Assassin Strike is a powerful move that can easily be weaved into an attack and stops an enemy’s momentum cold. If you find yourself using a lot of Kombos using Fans, then the Assassin variation’s specials, especially Sharpen, could be what leads you to victory.

Rising Fan: Down, Back, Triangle

Throat Slice: Back, Forward, X

Fan Throw: Down, Forward, Square

Upraise: Down, Back, Square

Assassin Strike: Down, Back, X

Princess Parry: Down, Back, Circle

Sharpen: Down, Right, Circle

X-Ray and Finishers

Fatalities:

  1. (Mid-range) Down, Forward, Back, Forward, Triangle
  2. (Mid-range) Back, Forward, Down, Down

Brutalities:

  1. Back, Forward + X

X-Ray (L2+R2 with full meter)

Kitana has a great X-Ray move that is not only extremely powerful but is also very quick in its landing animation and comes out of no where. All you need is a split second opening to land an overhead attack (which is what her X-Ray is) and you’re off and running (and stabbing and cutting).
