Metal Gear Solid V: TPP Guide – How to Get D-Walker

A walking tank you can wear.
This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain uses a Buddy system to help players get through really tough spots. The system allows players to choose between four special recruits that each bring a unique advantage to the field. One of the most powerful buddies in the game is D-Walker; here’s how to obtain it.

Unlike the other buddies in Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain, D-Walker is a vehicle, although it will still take up your body slot in the mission prep menu. The D-Walker is obtained by rescuing Huey Emmerich. Once he’s back at Mother Base, he will begin development of this powerful, weaponized walker. After a few missions have been completed, the D-Walker will be available for you to take out into the field.

The D-Walker is perfect for when you’re up against huge opposition. It can be upgraded with high-powered weapons to be able to take down gunships and other heavy artillery. Since it isn’t a living creature, there is no bond to be made, but it can be ordered around similar to D-Horse.

It may not have an interesting backstory, or be able to deliver adorable barks or weird, naked stealth tactics, but when s**t hits the fan and you need to blast your way through some armed forces in Metal Gear Solid V: TPP, the D-Walker is your best friend.
