Tonight’s Switch event was Nintendo’s chance to showcase a strong launch lineup for their upcoming platform, and after its end, that may not really be the case.
As of now, four titles are confirmed as day-one Nintendo Switch launch games for the US:
- 1-2 Switch
- Skylanders Imaginators
- Just Dance 2017
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Super Bomberman R
1-2 Switch saw its debut at the start of the show. The party game sets players face to face in mini-game challenges, which from the trailer, seem to include yoga, western shootouts, and milking cows. Another party game, Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2017 will also release on March 3, bringing with it a Switch-exclusive track (“How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris & Disciples) for Just Dance Universe subscribers and three months of free Universe access.
Activision’s toys-to-life title Skylanders Imaginators was also revealed as a launch game, but didn’t hold a candle to the announcement that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would grace the console day-one. One of the most anticipated games of 2017, it singlehandedly makes the console a must-buy for some. If you’re not a big Link fan, though, you may be left disappointed early on in Nintendo’s latest generation.
