The crowdfunding campaign for Rabbit & Bear Studios’ JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is continuing to make progress, and new information has been revealed.
The crowdfunding total has now passed $2.75 Million, unlocking the “Magical Girl” Mellore who will be the game’s 105th hero.
A “secret” stretch goal has been added at $2.8 million. The developers mention in today’s update that it’s “one of the most requested features” by the fans.
“If there’s one thing everyone loves, it’s a secret surprise! And fortunately, thanks to the hard work of our developers, talks with all potential publishing partners, and your ongoing support, we are able to slide in one of the most requested features in the game as a new, secret stretch goal. Unfortunately, we can’t yet reveal what it is (it wouldn’t be much of a secret otherwise, would it?). We’ll just have to unlock the stretch goal to find out what it is!”
We learn that the “Economy of Scale” stretch goal that was revealed with the previous update at $2.85 million is a trading minigame, while $2.9 million will unlock Rody, the 106th hero.Â
Lastly, $2.925 million will unlock another unrevealed stretch goal named “Western Linguistics.” I’m guessing that may be another localization language, but that’s just my speculation.
“Trading Minigame – At this stretch goal, you’ll unlock an in-game trading system that will allow you to buy and sell goods throughout the the world of Eiyuden to make money for your army.
Rody Joins – This young man dreams of becoming a watchmaker. He might come off as slightly disagreeable, but he’ll make for a great team member when he joins at this stretch goal, bringing the total heroes to 106.”
We also get a video interview with character designer Junko Kawano.
More information comes in the form of info on two characters that have already been unlocked via stretch goals.
Hildi
AGE: 21
HOME: A military family
FAVORITE FOOD: Sugar toast
Seign’s right-hand officer, a capable aide with an incredible attention to detail. Sometimes, Hildi is so prepared that she’s ready to carry out her orders before they’re given. While she hails from a famous military family, a disreputable act attributed to her father has sullied their honor. She is determined to restore dignity to her house.
Hildi’s hobbies include tidying, organizing, tidying, cleaning, and tidying. When she’s in a foul mood, she chases the soldiers from the barracks and cleans the dickens out of the place—their personal effects included—so they are extra careful not to rile her up.

“Everything has been arranged, sir. Otherwise I wouldn’t be doing my job.”
Maxim
AGE: 24
PROFESSION: Officer in one of the League’s armies
FAVORITE FOOD: Roast beef
A second lieutenant in the army of one of the League of Nations’ member states. He’s earnest to a fault, and isn’t shy about professing his idealistic views. Fortunately, his soldiers and friends see past that and recognize Maxim as a likable and honest man who just wants to achieve his very best.
QUOTE:
“I already know the secret to success. Care to hear it? It’s quite simple: don’t stop trying to succeed.”
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ campaign was launched on Kickstarter just a few days ago, reaching its basic founding goal in two hours and unlocking console platforms shortly after.
As usual, the success of this campaign shouldn’t be too surprising considering that it brings back together Suikoden creators Yoshitaka Murayama and Junko Kawano, and appears to be a spiritual successor of the popular franchise.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes will come to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and a possible next-gen Nintendo platform in fall 2022.
You can still contribute to the campaign yourself at the official Kickstarter site.
