How to Start the Torna Expansion DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Nintendo Switch is already a massive game, sporting a main story that takes roughly 70 hours to complete and a whole host of sidequest and side content. Well, that lengthy experience is about to get even longer, with a brand new standalone story expansion titled Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna – The Golden Age. The expansion is set 500 years before the start of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and it features quite a few familiar faces if you’ve played the original, like Jin, Brighid, Mythra, and more. The story focuses on the lost kingdom of Torna, and the heroes fighting to stop Malos from destroying the world, both things covered prominently in the lore and background of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Of course, if you’re planning on picking up Torna, you’re probably wondering how to start up the expansion and dive in.

Torna – The Golden Age is actually packaged as a standalone experience, separate from the main game. There are also a few different ways to purchase it. If you own the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass you can download it early on Sept. 14, otherwise, you’ll have to wait until the 21 to purchase it digitally on the eShop or a physical package with a code in stores. Whichever way you choose to purchase it, you’ll need to download the game through the eShop first. After that a new icon will be added to your home menu for Torna. As stated earlier, the expansion is actually a standalone experience separate from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so you don’t actually need to boot up the main game in order to access it. Simply select the icon on your Switch home screen and start it on up.

That’s all you need to know about starting the Torna – The Golden Age expansion for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. For even more tips and guides on the base game and the expansion, make sure to search Twinfinite.
