Where Eagles Dare is a British World War II action film that aired back in 1968. The plot follows a daring rescue mission with a group of allied agents staging a raid against the Nazis who are holding an American General prisoner. Disguised as Nazi officers, Maj. John Smith, Lt. Morris Schaffer, and six other brave souls put their lives on the line for the sake of duty.

The movie was mostly filmed in different locations in Austria, with the castle scenes shot at Werfen. The cable car scene was filmed at Ebensee, while the airport scenes were shot at Flugplatz at Aigen im Ennstal. The village, on the other hand, was at Lofer, and everything else was filmed in the MGM-British Studios, Borehamwood, England.

The movie is now considered a classic and was highly praised by critics back in the day. It stars several actors, such as Richard Burton, Clint Eastwood, and Mary Ure. It’s also worth noting that Scottish novelist Alistair MacLean penned both the screenplay and the novel of the same name.
