20th Anniversary – Diablo 3
For those looking to return to the days of old where players only had a limited amount of movement options and the world was extremely pixilated, then the Diablo 3: The Darkening of Tristram event is for you. In order to honor Diablo’s 20th anniversary, Blizzard has decided to bring back the original title and allow players to run through it with their Diablo III characters. This is not only to obtain new loot and cosmetic items but allow the Diablo fanbase a chance to revisit this legendary game and experience all 16 levels. You can either roll a new character or use a currently existing one, however during the reveal at BlizzCon 2016 the developers urged that the best way was to start fresh.
The Diablo 3 20th anniversary event is believed to start sometime this weekend with December 31 seemingly the most likely, as that is the original day that the first Diablo game released. In order to play this pseudo-expansion, users will need to own a copy of the Reaper of Souls DLC otherwise this content will be locked. It’s also important to note that The Darkening of Tristram will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC with the 2.4.3 patch. Given Blizzard usually updates their content around 1 PM EST, users should check their software for an update sometime in the early afternoon. Once we have a confirmed exact time we will let you know, as well as any issues or delays that the content may have.
