Stardew Valley Marnie Shop Schedule and Friendship Guide

The friendliest livestock trader in town!

Befriending Marnie in Stardew Valley requires delivering her favorite gifts like Diamonds and Farmer’s Lunches to her ranch in Cindersap Forest. Raising her friendship level unlocks critical cooking recipes and lets players retrieve Mayor Lewis’s lost shorts from her bedroom.

Marnie’s Ranch Topography and Landmarks

To locate Marnie’s Ranch, players must exit the southern gate of the main farm plot into Cindersap Forest. From this entry point, navigate southeast past the central lake and its dock; the ranch building sits directly north of Leah’s Cottage. The physical property borders the southwest entrance of Pelican Town, making it a quick walk west from the town square.

An overgrown mature tree on the right side of the ranch’s pasture fence conceals a hidden gap that allows players to enter the animal grazing area directly without navigating around debris. Aspiring ranchers can also collect an emergency supply of fodder by standing on the exterior side of this pasture fence and swinging a Scythe. If wild grass grows directly adjacent to the wooden barrier, the tool hitbox will register the harvest and deposit hay directly into a constructed farm Silo.

Complete Schedule and Weather Overrides

Navigating the shop hours requires careful planning around Pelican Town schedules. The physical ranch building remains unlocked from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily. However, Marnie only operates the transaction register behind the shop counter from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday through Sunday. On Mondays and Tuesdays, she is completely off-duty.

Marnie’s weekly routine changes based on standard days, weather patterns, and calendar dates. On Mondays, she leaves her bedroom at 8:10 AM to shop at Pierre’s General Store in the town square, returning at 1:30 PM to stand in her kitchen staring at the microwave. On Tuesdays, she departs at 10:00 AM to attend an aerobics class in the backroom of Pierre’s General Store alongside Caroline, Jodi, Emily, and Robin. This class runs from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and she returns home to her kitchen by 8:00 PM.

On Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, she mans the counter until 4:00 PM, walks to her bedroom, and then spends her evening from 6:20 PM to 11:00 PM socializing in the center room of the Stardrop Saloon. On Thursdays, she stays inside the ranch kitchen or bedroom after her 4:00 PM shift, skipping her saloon trip.

Rainy weather overrides her Thursday evening plans, forcing her to stand in front of her bedroom dresser from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM instead of leaving the house. During the Year 1 Green Rain event, she remains confined to her kitchen all day, keeping the register completely locked. In Year 2 and beyond, this environmental anxiety is bypassed, and she maintains her standard Wednesday through Sunday counter hours.

Annual medical appointments also close the register: she attends her annual check-up at Harvey’s Clinic on Fall 18 from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and accompanies Jas to her clinic check-up on Winter 18 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On Spring 17, if the Calico Desert bus is repaired, she boards the bus at 10:50 AM to attend the Desert Festival.

How to Bypass Marnie’s Schedule with the Animal Catalogue

The absolute fastest method to eliminate shopping limitations is acquiring the Animal Catalogue. This specialized Power Book becomes available for purchase at Marnie’s shop counter starting in Year 2 for 5,000g. Opening the inventory menu and reading this book permanently unlocks the passive power under the Special Items & Powers tab. Once active, players can walk up to her unmanned shop register on Mondays and Tuesdays between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM to purchase livestock, hay, heaters, and tools, completely bypassing her physical absence.

Marnie’s Gifting System and Friendship Stacking

Building a relationship with Marnie yields valuable cooking recipes and winter hay packages sent directly to the farmhouse mailbox. Deliver up to two gifts per week, plus an extra gift on her birthday.

Marnie’s Loved Gifts:

  • Diamond
  • Farmer’s Lunch
  • Pink Cake
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Stardrop Tea

Marnie’s Liked Gifts:

  • All Eggs (except Void Eggs)
  • All Milk types
  • Quartz
  • Stardew Valley Almanac

Stardrop Tea acts as an optimized gifting item because it does not count toward daily or weekly limits. Delivering a Stardrop Tea provides a flat 250 friendship points, which is tripled to 750 points on her Fall 18 birthday. On Fall 18, players can execute a double-gifting strategy by delivering a standard loved gift alongside a Stardrop Tea. Since loved birthday gifts receive an 8x multiplier, the single-day friendship yield is calculated as:

Friendship Points = (80 x 8) + 750 = 1,390

This interaction yields exactly 1,390 friendship points, instantly boosting her relationship status by 5.56 hearts in a single afternoon. Players can balance gifting items while searching for rare catches like Walleye, including the best ponds and smoking profits during rainy afternoons to maximize productivity.

Quest Sourcing and Hand-In Pathways

Marnie’s Request: Reach exactly 3 hearts of friendship with Marnie. On the next sunny morning, exit the farmhouse between 6:00 AM and 9:30 AM to trigger a cutscene where she requests a Cave Carrot. Access the Mountain Mines and descend to floors 10 to 40 to till dirt patches with a Hoe or break wooden crates. Once a Cave Carrot is acquired, enter the Marnie’s Ranch lobby between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Entering the building automatically triggers the completion cutscene and rewards the player with 100 friendship points.

Cow’s Delight: On Fall 3, check the mailbox to receive a letter from Marnie requesting a single bunch of Amaranth. Purchase Amaranth Seeds from Pierre’s General Store for 80g, plant them in Fall soil, and harvest them after seven days using a Scythe. Deliver the crop directly to Marnie at her shop counter or at the Stardrop Saloon in the evening to receive 500g and 250 friendship points.

Mayor’s Lucky Purple Shorts: Receive the request from Mayor Lewis on Summer 3. Earn 2 hearts of friendship with Marnie to unlock her bedroom door at the southwest corner of the ranch. Walk in and collect the shorts from the floor. To tailor them into a wearable item, access the Sewing Machine inside Emily’s house at 2 Willow Lane. Place the shorts in the lower-left cloth slot and a single Gold Bar in the upper-right spool slot. Alternatively, put a crafted Staircase directly into the player character’s pants inventory slot to instantly convert it into Trimmed Lucky Purple Shorts.

Lewis and Marnie 6-Heart Event: Achieve 6 hearts of friendship with both Marnie and Mayor Lewis. Enter Pelican Town from any direction on a sunny evening between 7:00 PM and 11:00 PM. During the cutscene behind the Mayor’s Manor, select “Yes… but I’ll keep it a secret” to gain 50 friendship points with Lewis, or “Yes… and I’m going to tell everyone” to lose 100 points. Neither dialogue path alters Marnie’s friendship rating.

Pet Licensing and Bowl Mechanics

Adopting additional companion animals in the Version 1.6 update requires meeting specific friendship and financial milestones before processing the adoption license at the ranch register. Maximize friendship with the initial free pet to 5 hearts (1,000 points) by daily petting and watering. Alternatively, if the initial pet was rejected, wait until Year 2 for the licensing register to automatically unlock. Construct an additional outdoor Pet Bowl at Robin’s Carpenter Shop for 5,000g and 25 Clay for each intended pet to prevent daily friendship decay. Once these conditions are met, interact with Marnie’s register during standard shop hours to select from the new pets added in Version 1.6.
