Congratulations! You’ve finally come to grips with the gameplay and mechanics of Valheim, decking out your Viking warrior with suitable armor, weapons and gear to survive the game’s initial areas. Now you’re ready to take on the game’s bosses, the first of which is Eikthyr, a Stag with electrified chains wrapped around its antlers. The only problem is, you don’t know how to summon Eikthyr in Valheim to kick things off.
Well, worry not. We’ve experimented, tested and stumbled our way into the answers you’re looking for, and laid them out in the guide down below.
How to Summon Eikthyr in Valheim
To summon Eikthyr in Valheim, you’ll need to track down a specific location; namely, a Mystical Altar in the Meadows biome.
There are multiple Altars that will spawn, though their location varies a bit based on your seed. However, they will all look the same, containing a stone table which you can interact with and a Rune Stone that gives you a hint of what to offer to it.
Likewise, you can mark the nearest one on your map by interacting with a glowing red stone to the left of the Eikthyr Sacrificial Stone, found right next to the point where you’ll first spawn into the world.
Once you find one, you’ll then need to place two Deer Trophy on the Altar to summon Eikthyr. These are dropped by Deer, which can be found easily throughout the Meadow biome. They can be skittish though, so your best bet is to sneak up behind one and attack it or kill one from afar with an arrow.
Regardless, once you’ve killed one, you should obtain a Deer Trophy. Once you’ve got two, open your inventory with the Tab button, select the Deer Trophy icon by left-clicking it and then assign it to one of your hot key slots. Head back to the Altar, and after you’ve interacted with it, press the hot key button the Deer Trophy is assigned to in order to leave two on the Altar.
After a flash of light, you’ll be notified that the sacrifice was accepted and Eikthyr will spawn in.
How to Beat Eikthyr
From there, you’ll then be able to attempt to beat Eikthyr in Valheim.
While he may seem intimidating at first, the first boss is fairly easy to beat by keeping your distance from him, strafing to the side whenever possible and peppering him with arrows. This will ensure you don’t bet hit by the projectile lightning attacks he launches in front of him, and that you don’t get mangled by his melee attacks.
Take your time and be patient, and before long you’ll have overcome the first of the game’s bosses with ease.
