As you try to survive in Valheim, you’ll be making your way through the game’s various biomes in search of better gear and various powerful enemies to beat. While you start in the Meadows, which aren’t particularly dangerous, you soon move onto The Black Forest to fight the first boss. As a reward for doing so, you get given a key to use in the Swamp, but it’s not clear how you actually get there. If you’re a bit lost, here’s everything you need to know about how to find the swamp in Valheim.
While your world will be procedurally generated, as everyone’s is, it seems like the Swamp Biome will very rarely be on or very nearby to your starting island. It’s possible that it does appear nearby or one’s in swimming distance, but you’ll likely need to craft a raft and sail to somewhere else instead. We have a guide on how to do that here.
How to Find the Swamp in Valheim
Once you’ve got something to sail around on and have learned how the mechanics of reading the wind work, finding a swamp biome is somewhat about how lucky you are. You simply need to sail around, heading to pieces of land you’ve never been to before and hope that it’s a swampy place. Sticking to coastlines is a good idea, since it minimizes the chance of you getting completely lost.
Thankfully, there’s a telltale sign of where you’ll find a swamp. Keep an eye out for dead trees when heading to somewhere new and head to shore once you do. You’ll then be able to look around for crypts to open with the key you got from the forest.
That’s everything you need to know about how to find the swamp in Valheim. For more tips and tricks on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
