The Ultimate Snowdown Skin Gifting Guide

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

It’s that time of year again folks. The poros are frolicking, Howling Abyss is somehow even colder than before, and Ashe, Lissandra, and the rest of the Freljord champions are probably laughing while everyone else is freezing. If there’s one thing we can look forward to every Snowdown, it’s a new batch of League of Legends champion skins. This year, Riot is not only releasing three new skins, but they’re also opening up the vault and allowing people to buy skins from Snowdowns past. If you’re a little overwhelmed about having to choose which skin to gift your friends on the Rift, look no further than this Snowdown gifting guide, arranged by preferred role!

For the Top Laner: Snow Day Singed

Snow Day Singed

Everyone has that one friend that likes to play top lane. Chances are, they get bored up there sometimes all by themselves. What better gift to them than a skin for a champion that makes top lane fun? Snow Day Singed is a great-looking and hilarious skin with animations that are sure to put you in a Winter spirit. If nothing else, get it because he hits people with a sled while holding a snowball.

For the Jungler: Poro Rider Sejuani

Snowdown

I don’t really think this one needs an in-depth explanation since Sejuani is riding a giant poro and that is probably enough for most of us, but maybe that’s not enough for some people. The jungler in your life has probably been through some tough times lately adapting to the huge changes made in patch 4.20. They probably need a little bit of comic relief. What is funnier than a giant poro crashing into the entire enemy team? Also, AP Sejuani might actually be viable and fun to play.

For the Mid Laner: Bad Santa Veigar

Snowdown

If your friend who insta-locks mid whenever you guys queue up for normals doesn’t play Veigar, maybe they should start. Nothing is quite so satisfying as one-shotting people as a tiny little dude with a high-pitched voice. Nothing except doing so dressed up as ol’ Saint Nick. Bad Santa Veigar makes Veigar somehow more adorably deadly than before and should definitely be one of the top picks for any Snowdown gift.

For the Support: Winter Wonder Lulu

Snowdown, Lulu

Lulu is a really, really annoying champion. Facing her in the bottom lane can be very aggravating, but playing her can be very rewarding. What better way to support your support than by gifting them a Lulu skin with a Poro Pix. There is probably no better way except maybe buying lots of wards and remembering your sweeper. Winter Wonder Lulu is absolutely adorable and pretty much any skin including Poros gets an automatic recommendation from me.

For the AD (ahem, “Marksman”): Reindeer Kog’Maw

Snowdown, Kog'Maw

Kog’Maw has one of the best skin sets in this entire game. For a champion who is supposed to be a wretched monster that shoots ooze, Riot has no qualms about throwing some butterfly wings on him, making him shoots fireworks, or — in the case of Reindeer Kog’Maw — throwing some antlers and a big red nose on him. Everyone has that AD friend who is constantly asking for peels. What better way to diffuse your annoyance toward the constant complaints than by looking at Kog’Maw dressed as a reindeer?

So there you have it folks, a comprehensive gifting guide for this year’s Snowdown. Plenty of awesome skins didn’t make it on here, so if you’re still unsure or you don’t want to be held accountable for your choices, just get them a mystery skin. Happy Snowdown and have a great time on Summoner’s Rift!
