The foundation of every trick you do is the Ollie. Just hold X (PS4) or A (Xbox One) and release it to go airborne. This can be done on flat ground, off of a kicker, off of a rail, in a halfpipe and just about any other spot where you can jump.

Once you release the button, you’ll be flying through the air for a short time. Before you hit the ground, you’ll need to do a specific button input in order to perform a Heelflip. Press or hold left on the D-Pad or control stick and press Square (PS) or X (Xbox) at the same time.

If done properly, then you’ll land a Heelflip. Just make sure that your board isn’t perpendicular to the direction you’re heading or else you’ll bail and not get any points.

And if you really want to get fancy, then you can do a Double Heelflip by pressing Square or X twice instead of just once before you hit the ground. Since the board does one more rotation it’s a bit harder to land this trick on flat ground unless you time everything perfectly.

Here’s a quick summary to help you learn how to do a Heelflip in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2:

  1. Get some air

You can press and release X or A to go airborne. This can be done on flat ground, off of a kicker, in a half-pipe, and just about anywhere else.

  2. Heelflip

Hold left on the D-Pad or left control stick, then press Square or X while continuing to hold left.

  3. Land it

It doesn’t count if you bail, so stick that landing. Make sure your board isn’t turned sideways (perpendicular to the direction of your momentum) or else the trick won’t count.
