The Division: How to Get Money (Credits) Fast

The Counselling Perk

Recommended Videos

The easiest way to rack up credits even faster is by grabbing the Credit perk that comes from getting the Counselling upgrade for the Medical Wing of your Base of Operations. The perk increases credit gains by 10%. This may not seem like a lot as a bonus on each individual mission but over time that extra 10% will help make you a whole lot richer.

To get the Credit perk, simply head to the laptop in the Medical Wing of your Base of Operations and purchase the Counselling upgrade for 200 supplies. You’ll also get two Talents that may come in useful during battle, too. Win win!

Side Missions and Encounters

If you haven’t already been to the Situation Boards and the JTF Officer who gives you a ton of side missions to take on, then you really should. These two places inside Safe Houses and your Base of Operations will put a ton of Side missions and Encounters on your map.

Encounters are quick and easy missions that will gain you some supplies for its corresponding wing in your Base of Operations, some exp and some credits. While the amount of credits you’re earning from each one isn’t a huge amount, each time you hit a Situations Board it’ll pop a ton of Encounters on your map. Complete ’em all and your wallet will be weighing you down in no time.

Side missions are the more lucrative of the two. These missions will get you some credits, a chunk of exp, a piece of gear, and a blueprint for you to craft. The amount of credits you get isn’t huge, but grab the Counselling perk early on and it’ll add up over time. Also, if the loot you get as a reward doesn’t match your play style or just isn’t powerful enough, you can always make some extra cash off it by…

Sell Your Stuff

Yup, the most obvious way to earn credits quickly in The Division is to sell all of your stuff that you don’t have equipped or no longer have a need for. Simply head over to a vendor in any of the Safe Houses and sell your stuff to them. You’ll get the best prices for each of your items by selling the correct item to the correct vendor (weapons to a weapon vendor, armor to a gear vendor, etc.).

Unfortunately, worn (white) items won’t get you many credits at all, so it may be best to deconstruct these for crafting materials. Anything above these, though, will get you a more substantial amount of credits and will help you become a high-roller of Manhattan in no time.

The Dark Zone

The Dark Zone offers a couple of ways of bringing in big money. Two of these focus on an Agent, either yourself or another enemy player going ‘rogue’. This essentially means that the Agent has opted to take down or shoot at another enemy player.

If you’re the one who has gone rogue all you need to do is try and survive until the timer on above your character runs out. If you’re successful you’ll get a chunk of exp and credits. However, if you’re not the Agent who has gone rogue, try and take them out. There is a bounty placed on the head of every Agent who goes rogue in the Dark Zone of credits and exp.

Of course, it would be a crime to not talk about the Dark Zone loot in this section. This stuff is some of the best loot in the game and will therefore sell for a high value. That is, if you can extract it from the Dark Zone. With AI enemies trying to take you down and other players also on the hunt for loot, you’re never safe in the Dark Zone. It’s best to go in with a group of friends and stick together.

Hunt and harvest the Dark Zone as a team and you’ll see your credits balance skyrocketing from the profits that can be made. Once you’ve extracted your items, take it to a vendor just as we mentioned before and sell it on.

Main Missions

This one may seem self explanatory but there is a reason we’ve included it. As you play through each of the main missions in The Division, you’ll earn huge amounts of exp and one of the biggest rewards of cash. Therefore, if you’re wanting to pick up some expensive items, all you have to do is advance in the storyline if it’s not your items that are hindering your progress.

If you are stuck and you need more credits to get you some better gear, head over to your map and check out the missions you have already completed. These missions, while not granting you any lump sums of exp at the end, will get you a healthy chunk of credits for replaying the mission. You’ll also get some more gear for completing the mission to, and who can say no to that!
