Titanfall 2: The Best Titan Classes To Use in Multiplayer

One of the most effective Titans in close quarters combat is Ronin. Equipped with the Leadwall, a wide-spread shotgun capable of devastating both pilots and Titans alike up close, it won’t take long to take care of your enemies once they’re in range. To help you get close enough to really dish out the damage to your opponents, Ronin also has the ability to Phase Dash. He’ll temporarily phase out of the world, avoiding incoming fire and allowing you to catch your enemy off-guard.

Once you’re up close and personal, Ronin is capable of dealing out significant damage as well as defending itself more than competently. Its sword’s Arc Wave attack creates an electric wave that damages and slows enemies hit by it. The perfect attack to land on your enemies just before unloading several shotgun rounds into them. You can also reduce damage taken with a handy sword block.

After you’ve racked up enough carnage with Ronin, activating its core will grant you access to more sword attacks that are lethal to a Titan. A good few swipes will see your opponent fall in seconds.

Ronin is the perfect Titan for those who aren’t afraid to get right into the heart of the action. It might not be the best protected, but a skilled player will be able to make use of its phase dash, ordinary dash, and sword block to evade and reduce the barrage of damage heading its way.

Legion

Legion’s most obvious advantage comes in the form of its giant Predator Cannon capable of disposing enemies in both short and long-range fighting. Its cannon has two different modes, the long-range mode allowing you to pick off enemies from a distance, while switching back to the standard short-range mode will allow you to unload dozens of bullets upon your enemies.

Legion’s capabilities as both an effective short and long range Titan extend to both its Ordnance and Defensive abilities. With its Power Shot also being able to knock back nearby enemies in close range, and damage all enemies in its path at long range, it’s easy to use in a variety of different combat scenarios. What’s more, its Gun Shield allows you to either set up shop from a distance and pick off enemy Titans with the benefit of a huge protective shield, or it can greatly limit the damage you sustain when unloading several tons of lead into your enemies in the middle of the chaos.

To top it all off, Legion’s Smart Core will automatically seek out and lock onto any target in range, making it even easier to pick off targets regardless of whether you’re sitting back or bringing the fight to your opponents.

Ion

Ion has the advantage of familiarity over its peers. Feeling very similar to the Atlas class of the original game, Ion carries a Splitter Rifle that unloads a powerful laser beam, and a Laser Shot which can deal an even heavier blow. Much like the Legion Titan, Ion is effective both up close and from a distance thanks to the impressive range of its powerful laser-based weapons.

To help you pick off stray Titans, its tactical Tripwire ability also deals damage through laser-triggered explosive mines. Perfect for those moments when an enemy Titan is in pursuit after you. In order to keep you out of the way of damage, too, Ion dons a Vortex Shield capable of absorbing incoming fire and returning it back to the sender. Particularly useful when it’s a neck and neck battle to the death.

Rounding off Ion’s arsenal of abilities is its Laser Core, capable of stopping anything in its path in the form of a giant oversized Laser beam fired from its chest. While it does make it far more susceptible to damage, unleashing this from a distance onto a group of enemy Titans will greatly hinder their offensive capabilities.
