Z-Moves – Pokemon Sun and Moon

Recommended Videos

Z-Moves are a brand new addition to Pokemon Sun and Moon, that let your Pokemon unleash powerful attacks once per battle. There are a few requirements you have to meet to pull off Z-Moves, however, and they’re something you’ll progressively unlock throughout the game.

First things first, you’ll need a Z-Ring, but don’t worry, as you get that through the story pretty early on. Secondly, you need Z-Crystals to pull off a move, but you’ll also unlock these as your progress through the story. Each Z-Crystal is themed to a different Pokemon type, and in order to use a Z-Move, a Pokemon will have to have a move of the exact same type. So if you want a Pikachu to use a Normal Type Z-Crystal, it’ll need to know a Normal attack like Tackle or Quick Attack.

There are, however, a few Pokemon in Sun and Moon that have specific Z-Crystals that only they can use. These are Pokemon like Eevee, Pikachu, and Snorlax. It should also be noted that moves that give status effects can also be used with Z-Moves, and if an enemy is using Fly or Dig, Z-Moves will still miss. Below you’ll find the location of each type specific Z-Crystal and how you can get them, followed by all the Pokemon specific Z-Crystals we know about so far. Please be aware that there are minor story spoilers for Pokemon Sun and Moon.
