Terraria: How to Get Goblin Tinkerer

Added in Terraria’s patch 1.1, the Goblin Tinkerer is an NPC that sells unique items and gives players the option to ‘Reforge.’ As such, many players will want to get access to the tinkerer, but to do so, you’ll have to jump through a few hoops. Here’s how to get the Goblin Tinkerer in Terraria.

Before we go any further, make sure that you’re game’s Autopause setting is turned to ‘Off’ within the game’s settings. If it’s set to ‘On,’ you’ll have some issues right-clicking on the Goblin Tinkerer, allowing you to then buy its unique items and use the ‘Reforge’ option.

Unlocking the Goblin Tinkerer in Terraria

First things first, you’ll need to make sure that you’ve beaten a Goblin Army on the world that you’re playing on. The easiest way to do this is to simply summon a Goblin Battle Standard.

Keep in mind the following criteria need to be met in order for a Goblin Army to spawn:

• It has to be daytime.
• You must have destroyed a Shadow Orb or Crimson Heart.
• You (or another player) must have 200 health or more.
• Another Goblin Invasion cannot be in progress.

Once you’ve beaten the Goblin Army, you’ll then be about to find the Goblin Tinkerer.

Finding the Goblin Tinkerer

The Goblin Tinkerer can then be found just about anywhere in your world. These four sections are where you’ll want to check:

• Dungeon
• Underground
• Underground Jungle
• Underworld

A lot of players have noted, however, that the Goblin Tinkerer tends be most easily found when checking in the Dungeon as this is an open and relatively easy area to navigate.

Once you find the Goblin Tinkerer, you’ll need to right-click on him to untie him. After this, you’ll then be able to access his shop and ‘Reforge’ option.
