This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

There are a ton of different crafting materials, food items, and other junk that can be sold for Glims in Spiritfarer, and while a lot of it can be found on land, sometimes you might have to go underwater to retrieve them. In this guide, we’ll quickly teach you how to dive underwater in Spiritfarer and retrieve items.

First, it’s worth pointing out that you can’t just dive underwater anywhere. You need to look out for a gold glimmer on the surface of the water. These are most commonly found to the sides of islands you visit, or at ‘Crate’ sites on your map of the seas.

How to Dive in Spiritfarer

To dive underwater, swim over to a gold, glowing spot in the water and press A on Xbox One, X on PS4, or B on Switch, and down on the left analog stick or d-pad. You need to make sure you’re directly over the glimmer and not to the side of it, otherwise Stella won’t dive.

If you’re having some issues getting Stella to dive, try pressing and holding down on the d-pad as well as A/X/B, as opposed to just pressing them. The dive mechanic does appear to be a bit particular at times.

As long as you’re right on top of it, Stella will then dive under the surface of the water and pull up whatever’s lurking underneath.

Most of the time, you’ll get rocks and ores which can be useful crafting materials once broken down. Other times you’ll get some Junk items, but remember you can sell these to Franklin the traveling merchant for easy Glims.
