Is Sekiro Xbox One X Enhanced & PS4 Pro Compatible? What You Need to Know

With the arrival of FromSoftware’s latest grueling RPG, it should come as no surprise that many players are wondering whether Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will make use of their supercharged, 4K capable console sitting in their living room (or bedroom). Here’s what you need to know on whether Sekiro is Xbox One X enhanced and PS4 Pro compatible.

Well, first off, let’s start by giving you the basic answer. Yes, Sekiro is both Xbox One X enhanced, and PS4 Pro compatible. What may be somewhat disappointing to some players, however, is the extent to which the game makes use of this additional power. Or, the somewhat underwhelming performance, to put it a different way.

Sekiro on Xbox One X

As we’ve already stated, it’s been confirmed that Sekiro is Xbox One X enhanced. This can be seen over on the game’s official page on the Xbox site, detailing that Sekiro will be HDR compatible and has been otherwise enhanced.

It’s important to note at this point, that the page is absent of the Ultra HD 4K logo, suggesting Sekiro may not be running at a 4K native or checkerboard resolution.

This makes it somewhat difficult for us to gauge who Sekiro’s Xbox One X enhancements. It may be that loading times are significantly reduced on the more powerful system, and textures look considerably better, but these are more minor improvements over something like an improved resolution or 60fps mode.

PS4 Pro Compatibility

Sadly, that ambiguity regarding 4K resolutions continues on the PS4 Pro, too, with many previews and hands-on time with Sekiro highlighting that the game was running at a native 1080p resolution.

In particular, Digital Foundry highlight that Sekiro was running at 1080p with an unlocked framerate “typically from 40fps to 60fps, with alpha-heavy scenes taking us down into the 30s.”

Unfortunately, there’s not a whole lot more information out there regarding just how well the game runs on PS4 Pro and Xbox One. However, it looks as though FromSoftware has focused on ensuring the gameplay remains smooth, rather than running the risk of 4K resolutions straining the systems too much.

If we happen to find out any additional information regarding Sekiro’s Xbox One X enhancements or PS4 Pro compatibility, we’ll be sure to update this post and let you know.
