How to Get Treasure in Sea of Thieves

Recommended Videos

Finding treasure is one of the main ways you’ll make money is Sea of Thieves. Much like in all pirate stories you know, you can use Treasure maps to help you find some, and here’s all you need to know about going about using them.

First, you’ll need to purchase a voyage from a Gold Hoarder using the in-game currency. They can be found on outpost islands standing in their distinctive green tents and the beginner voyages are free.

Then, you should head back to your ship and into the captain’s quarter, which you’ll find directly under the steering wheel. By interacting with the table in the corner of the room, you’ll be able to ‘Propose a Voyage.’ Once you’ve done so, your Sea of Thieves crew will vote on it, with you needing a majority for the voyage to begin.

Then, to find the treasure, look at the treasure map and try to work out which island you need to go to by comparing the shape of the one on the treasure map with those on the main map in the captain’s quarters. Once you think you’ve worked it out, head to the island and search for the location matching where the ‘X’ is on the treasure map. If you’ve found it, you’ll then have to sail back to an outpost to find a Gold Hoarder to sell the treasure chest to.

That’s all you need to know about finding treasure in Sea of Thieves. For more tips and tricks, check out our wiki guide.
