Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is a pretty in-depth RPG with a more open world than any SAO game before it. With that open world comes activities that serve to make the map areas more than just boring spaces of nothing. One of those activities is regular RPG feature fishing, and this guide will help you with how to go fishing in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris.
How to Go Fishing in Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris
Fishing spots are easy to find and are usually dotted all over the map, marked by an icon of a white fish on a light blue background. You start with a rod so there isn’t any work to do to start, simply approach the designated spot you want and hit the interact button.
As you can see, the menu gives a breakdown of your chances to catch each type, with a recommended proficiency level also given. The recommended level means that until you meet or exceed it, your only chances are to catch the lowest rarity fish.
Fishing itself is a purely passive activity. Kirito does all of the work and it only requires you to select the rod, the animation and event of catching a fish is all automatic. This makes fishing a lot less intensive than other games, as you are relying purely on probability instead of a mini-game. Catching a fish is a guarantee, there isn’t a failure chance.
As far as the point in the game the screenshot shows, every caught fish equals out to earning 2 proficiency points. Proficiency level is universal across all spots, with each level up proficiency requirement increasing by 5 points over the last to achieve proficiency level up. Level 1 is 5 proficiency needed, level 2 is 10, and so forth. Your total proficiency doesn’t play a part in leveling up, you could be at the 28 points, as in the screenshot, and still need to reach the full 20.
Time needed: 1 minute
