RESIDENT EVIL 7 ENDINGS
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard gives players a difficult choice late in the game that splits the story between two different endings, each of which is tied to a trophy/achievement. This guide will tell you exactly how to get each ending.
As is to be expected, the details on how to unlock the endings will contain some spoilers. Do not read on if you want to experience Resident Evil 7 for yourself. However, if you just have to know what happens and want to make life easier for your run through the game, proceed.
FINAL WARNING! SPOILERS AHEAD!
Ending 1 – Good Ending
After escaping from each area of the Baker farm, you’ll have finally created the serum that cures anyone infected with the virus emitted by Eveline. You’ll be able to create two doses, one for Zoe Baker and one for Mia, Ethan’s wife. Unfortunately, one of the final bosses in RE7 – a horrifically mutated Jack Baker – requires one of the doses in order to be finally killed. That leaves you with a tough choice, do you save your wife, or the completely innocent party that is Zoe Baker.
For the first ending you’ll want to save Mia. This seems selfish at first, but it works out the best for the parties involved. Saving Mia will have her tag along on your boat ride as you try to make your way out of Louisiana. Unfortunately, Eveline is on to your schemes and destroys the boat before taking both of you captive in the large tanker that brought her to the Bakers in the first place.
At this point you’ll gain control of Mia as you navigate through the boat and discover her true place in the story. She works for the company that created Eveline and the virus, and was mutated by Eveline who wanted Mia to become her mother. It’s why Mia disappeared for all those years. She was possessed and forced to remain with Eveline and the Bakers as one big family.
After the revelation, Mia finds Ethan cocooned in mold. After rescuing him, Eveline tries to take control. However, since Mia was given the serum, she can resist and locks herself in a room as Ethan escapes.
Fast forward to the final encounter with Eveline and after she’s dead you’re rescued by the Umbrella Corporation of all people. On the chopper you’ll discover Mia alive and well thanks to your choice. Ethan will speak about the victims and how he sees an open door, a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak.
You’ll notice that Ethan’s hand is fully healed now, meaning he is most likely infected by the virus. Whether or not he is an E-Series is unknown. Also unknown is if Zoe survived and how she’s doing. There are still questions left to be answered, but your wife is now safe.Â
Ending 2 – Bad Ending
Choosing Zoe over Mia leads to a series of unfortunate events. It seems like the right thing to do, after all she’s helped you through the whole RE7 adventure. However, Eveline isn’t too fond of her, so she’ll kill her once you set off in the boat.
The rest of the game plays out the same, only when Mia finally rescues Ethan, she can’t resist Eveline’s control so she tries to kill him. This forces the player to kill Mia before moving on, meaning there is nobody on the chopper when you finally reach the end. Ethan’s depressing monologue discusses how no doors have been open and how it was all a failure.
