There’s a big emphasis on crafting and survival mechanics in Red Dead Redemption 2. Players will need to familiarize themselves with a huge range of different equipment and gear, as well as various ingredients and materials in order to get the most out of the experience. It can all be a bit overwhelming. Don’t worry, though, we’re here to try and make the massive expanse of the Wild West a little bit more manageable. Here’s how to get Leather Working Tools and what they do in Red Dead Redemption 2.

From the earliest stages of the game, you’ll likely have noted that the camp is your base of operations from which you’ll do plenty of crafting and general management. The base itself can be upgraded, too, and the Leather Working Tools are one such upgrade. To purchase the Leather Working Tools, head over to the ledger and flick through using the R1/L1 or bumper buttons until you see them listed on the page. You’ll find the Ledger beside Dutch van der Linde’s tent and directly next to the donation box (marked with a purse symbol on the mini-map).

The Leather Working Tools cost $180 out of the camp funds. It’s a fairly hefty price early in the game, but it’s worth shelling out for if you’re interested in customizing the appearance of the camp to your preference. Purchasing the tools will allow Pearson to craft new cosmetic items around the camp.

More importantly, however, they also provide inventory upgrades for Arthur. There are a bunch of different inventory upgrades you can get from Pearson throughout the game, but whether he has them in stock depends on how many pelts he has and from which species.

If you’re wondering how to get Perfect Pelts and what they are, you can check out our full guide for that here. In brief, they are obtained by skinning different animals out in the wild.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Leather Working Tools and what they do in Red Dead Redemption 2. For more useful information and guides on the game, be sure to refer to our wiki page.
