Can You Get a Coin Case & Gamble? What You Need to Know

Pokemon Let’s Go reimagines the iconic Pokemon Yellow with a pretty new aesthetic, and it also streamlines and changes gameplay mechanics, too — some return and some have disappeared entirely. So here’s whether you can get the coin case & what you need to know.

Pokemon veterans will have fond memories of the various points of interest across the Kanto region. One, in particular, is likely Game Corner, a shop in Celadon City in which you were able to play on slot machines as a fun mini-game.

Here, you’d use your coin case to stash the pennies you’d use on the machines, attempting to hit a high-score of 9,999 in order to claim the ultimate prize: a Porygon.

Unfortunately, though Game Corner remains in Pokemon Let’s Go, you won’t actually be able to use the slot machines. All you can do is walk up to them and read a little information about each machine. And as a result of that, there’s no need for a coin case… so it doesn’t exist.

That’s right, there’s no point in wasting any time looking for the coin case in its original location because it simply isn’t there.

So what gives, why would Nintendo remove such a beloved feature of the original game? The answer is probably to do with the ESRB ratings. Any game that incorporates any sort of gambling is immidiately a 12+ rating, which is exactly the rating given the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions of the original game.

Pokemon Let’s Go, however, is only rated at a 7+, which was a deliberate attempt to target a wider audience this time around. Sadly, that means no gambling.

That’s all the information we have about whether you can get the coin case & what you need to know. For more useful guides, check out our wiki page.
