Evolving Qwilfish in Pokemon Legends Arceus
Qwilfish has been sort of a forgotten Pokemon for years. While it could hold its own in Gen 2 with its original Water/Poison typing (one that’s pretty decent), over the years, power creep in base stats has left this Pokemon in the dust.
That has changed, though, in Pokemon Legends Arceus. Qwilfish has finally received an evolution that makes it a far more interesting Pokemon with increased base stats. However, it does carry a new typing of Dark/Poison which isn’t necessarily worse, but definitely changes how you use this Pokemon.
Qwilfish doesn’t just evolve on its own though, like other Pokemon, you have to do something a bit unique to get it to evolve into Overqwil.
Strong Style Barb Barrage
To evolve Qwilfish, you need to first level it up until it gets to level 15 and learns the move, Psyshield Bash. Make sure to change your moves so you actually have it equipped. You may need to level your Qwilfish to 21 in order to master Barb Barrage so you can Strong Style, or pay to have it mastered from the move tutor in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
Either way, use Psyshield Bash 20 times using Strong Style. Once you’ve done this, Qwilfish will be ready for evolution and you can turn it into an Overqwil.

- Use Strong Style Barb Barrage 20 times
- Evolve Qwilfish into Overqwil in the Menu
Overqwil boasts high attack and defense, and decently spread stats all around. Definitely take advantage of its signature move, Barb Barrage, which is quite strong.
