One of the items that you’ll find yourself with at the start of your adventure in Pokemon GO is Incense. Here’s what it is and how to use it to help you on your way.

Incense is a consumable item that you can use to lure Pokemon from the nearby area to come to your location. It will not only increase the rate that you’ll encounter Pokemon, but means you won’t have to do the hard work of hunting down the Pokemon, it will do the work for you for a duration of 30 minutes. You’ll know when the Incense is active by a purple cloud of smoke that appears around you.

You’ll begin with two lots of Incense from the start, and this can be used as a great way for you to fill out your Pokedex from the comfort of your own home.

To use this item, click on the Pokeball at the bottom of your screen and then select Items. Here, you should find Incense. Tap on it once and the Incense will activate, leaving the purple cloud of smoke circling around you on the map. Now all you have to do is leave it to do its thing and you’ll have Pokemon surrounding you in no time.

As we mentioned, you’ll start off with two lots of Incense that the game gives you at the start, but if you want more you’ll have to buy it either individually, or in sets of 8, or 25, for Pokecoins which can be bought using real-life money.

Have you used yours yet or are you saving it for when rare Pokemon are nearby? Let us know in the comments below.
