How to Get Squirtle With Sunglasses in Pokemon GO

Recommended Videos

Niantic is doing a great job introducing new Pokemon and events every week in Pokemon GO. Whether it be Raid events, Shiny releases, or throwbacks to the early years of the anime, the frequent events give players a reason to keep returning to the game. The most recent event saw the addition of Shiny Squirtle and a Squirtle with sunglasses, which is a throwback to the Squirtle Squad from the first season of the anime.

Unfortunately, by the time you’re reading this, you will no longer to able to catch a Squirtle with sunglasses in Pokemon GO because they were exclusive to the Community Day event that ran on July 8. You weren’t able to catch them in the wild, instead you were given the chance to catch one by completing a Community Day Research Task. Spinning a Pokestop could give you a ‘Catch 5 Squirtle’ task, and once you’ve completed it, you’ll be faced by a sunglasses-wearing Squirtle. You can still complete the task now that Community Day has ended, for the chance to get one, but you will no longer get the task from Pokestops.

On top of the Squirtle wearing sunglasses, Shiny Squirtles could be caught during Pokemon GO July Community Day, and any newly evolved Blastoise had the chance to learn Hydro Pump, which wasn’t possible before, and isn’t possible after. You will still be able to find Shiny Squirtles out in the wild, but they will not be as common as they were during Community Day. Niantic may release the Squirtle with Sunglasses again sometime in the future, and we will be sure to let you know if that ever is the case. For now, you’ll simply have to wait and keep your fingers crossed.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Squirtle with sunglasses in Pokemon GO. For more on the game, check out our wiki guide.
