How to Get Ho-Oh in Pokemon GO
Pokemon GO continues to release the legendary creatures that everyone’s been clamoring for ever since the game released. The latest to hit the mobile title is Ho-Oh, the incredibly rare legendary bird first introduced in the Pokemon Gold & Silver titles. Here’s what you need to know to get Ho-Oh in Pokemon GO.
Just like other legendaries that have made their way to Pokemon GO so far, Ho-Oh can only be caught during a Legendary Raid. In order to do this, you’ll first need a Raid Pass. These will be required to take part in the Legendary Raid for Ho-Oh, which can take place at any random Gym in the game.
These Legendary Raids don’t just pop off at any time, and you’ll need more than just yourself battling the ‘mon if you want to stand a chance at claiming it as your own. When you see the in-app messages about an upcoming raid or one going live, you’ll want to make your way over there and prepare for a tough battle.
Ho-Oh is a flying and fire-type Pokemon, so you’ll want to make sure your team is filled with Pokemon that can not only exploit these weaknesses, but are strong against these types of moves. Once you’ve finally beaten this legendary bird in Pokemon GO, it’s now time for catching it. Unfortunately, it doesn’t get any easier.
Just like the other Legendary Raid Bosses in Pokemon GO, this legendary bird has a very low catch rate, and as a result, you’ll want to make sure you’re maximizing your chances. Always curve your throws whenever you can, be sure to use Golden Razz Berries as much as you possibly can, and your success rate of catching Ho-Oh with Premier Balls will increase the more you throw, so just keep on throwing, time your throws, and be patient. With a bit of luck, you’ll finally have Ho-Oh for yourself in Pokemon GO.
Remember that just like other Legendary Raids, Ho-Oh is only going to stick around for a limited amount of time (until Dec. 14 to be exact). After that, you’ll have to hope that Niantic releases it back into the wild in the future.
