Pikmin 3 Deluxe is finally here for the Nintendo Switch, and it comes with some new features, such as the ability to play the entirety of the story mode with a friend by your side. Unfortunately, the latest Switch exclusive has no sort of online connectivity, but here’s how to play local co-op multiplayer with friends in Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
How to Play Co-Op Multiplayer With Friends in Pikmin 3 Deluxe
Exploring a strange world with these weird Pikmin creatures by your side can be a lonely experience. Luckily, you can easily have a friend join you in your adventures at any time by pressing the + button and then hitting the Play Co-op option.
The game will then ask you to connect a second controller for player 2 and you can use a variety of control methods such as a Switch Pro Controller or a single Joy-Con held sideways, but the former is honestly the best way to go for a game like this.
Once the second controller is good to go, the screen will split into two, and now you have some help! You won’t have to restart your missions or anything either as the multiplayer integration is seamless.
You can also play a PvP game mode called Bingo Battle with you and a second player collecting fruit and enemies to fill up your bingo card.
You can start the mode from the main menu, and then you can connect a second controller by pressing that controller icon in the bottom-right corner, which you can see in the image down below:
And that’s not all! The new Side Stories game mode can also be played with a second player, and there’s also a Mission mode where you can collect treasure and battle enemies –this can be played solo or via co-op.
As you can see, there are tons of options for multiplayer play in Pikmin 3 Deluxe, so you should not have an issue with finding content for you and a friend.
