Phoenix Point is the latest turn-based strategy game from the creator of the original X-COM. Essentially a game that’ll be right at home on PC, some players may be wondering whether or not Phoenix Point is on Game Pass for PC, or if it’s going to come to the service at all. Well, here’s what you need to know.
Phoenix Point on Game Pass Explained
Update 12/5/19: Today, developer Snapshot Games confirmed that Phoenix Point’s release onto Xbox Game Pass for PC and the Windows Store is delayed indefinitely. The developer cited “pre-requisites, from Microsoft certification to legal documentation review” as unforeseen issues. These, in turn, have caused further delays to Phoenix Point’s release on these platforms, and as such has been delayed indefinitely. You can read the full statement here.
Right now, it seems as though Phoenix Point isn’t on Game Pass for PC. While this may come as disappointing news, this won’t be permanent. In fact, according to the Community Manager over on Reddit, Phoenix Point will hopefully arrive on Game Pass “a few days to a week later” than its release on Dec. 3.
The reasoning for this, Community Manager Unstable Voltage claims is down to Microsoft having not cleared the game from the Certification process. This is part of the development process that games must go through before they go live on any platform.
“We were planning on releasing on Game Pass on the same day – but we’re waiting for certification from MS – so it might be a few days to a week later,” he explains.
For now, it’s simply a case of waiting and hoping that Phoenix Point makes it to Game Pass sooner rather than later.
Phoenix Point is available now on PC via Epic Games Store or from Phoenix Point’s website itself. It’s also due to release on Xbox One and PS4 sometime in 2020.
